If you’ve made it to this page you’re probably looking for a little more information on Cheap Brew. Look no further! I am Anthony, and I’m a hobby home brewer. I started playing around with home brewing when I was 19 by fermenting a couple of Langers juice bottles in my apartment with some bread yeast. Needless to say the result lacked any appeal to my taste buds but I thought it was a neat work around. I may not have been able to purchase beer, wine, or whiskey, BUT I could easily get the materials to make it. Unfortunately none of the things I made were particularly appealing.
I took a break from homebrewing for a little while and went to school, and around 2019 and COVID, I decided that it was time to get back into homebrewing. In the first few years of my career I was not making a whole lot of money, so my goal was to accomplish home brewing in the cheapest way possible. I bought a ten dollar one gallon jug, and a bottle of star san for $24.99, and began by fermenting some honey. Another of my hobbies has been posting unprofessional, home made videos to YouTube, so naturally, I took out my camera and filmed it so I could document and share my struggles.
I had been making videos once every month or so until about 2022, but then my career started to “take off” and I lost a lot of schedule flexibility leading to losing time to fit video making of my home brewing into my life. Add to the mix, the culmination of about 10 years of unhealthy use of pizza, whiskey, and beer and I ended up quitting drinking. After nearly two years of not drinking I decided to dip my toes back into the water, to include more than just making high ABV wines. I have more of an appreciation for various kinds of fermented products after my hiatus from drinking.
